Animal Welfare Commitment
Our products feature quality deadstock and upcycled materials, some of which are animal-based. Wherever possible, our animal-based materials will come from excess sources. Where this is not possible, we source only those that meet the following standards.
What We Will Use
LEATHER
We will only use this if it is from deadstock and upcycled sources.
WOOL & CASHMERE
Our wool and cashmere are from surplus and deadstock sources whenever possible. If not, we will use wool and cashmere containing at least 50% certified recycled content, meeting Global Recycling Standard (GRS) or Recycled Content Standard (RCS).
SHEARLING
We will only use shearling that is excess.
DOWN AND FEATHER
Our down and feathers are from deadstock and upcycled sources whenever possible. If not, we will only use down that is certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) or Traceable Down Standard (TDS), or is certified recycled, meeting Global Recycling Standard (GRS) or Recycled Content Standard (RCS).
SILK
Our silk will either come from deadstock or upcycled sources, whenever possible. If not, we will use silk that has been certified organic, such as Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or Organic Content Standard (OCS), or Ahimsa silk, also known as peace silk.
WHAT WE WON’T USE
Even if it is deadstock, upcycled or surplus, there are materials which we will not use:
FUR
We will not use fur within our products. We do not believe in the raising or killing of animals solely for the purpose of their fur. This means that we do not use pelts or fur from wild or domestic animals that were killed solely for their hide. This includes, but is not limited to, domestic or feral cats and dogs.
ANGORA
Due to the animal welfare issues around rabbit hair, we will not use any angora rabbit or rabbit hair.
EXOTIC SKINS
We will never use animal-based materials derived from endangered or vulnerable species. We will also never use exotic skins, even if they are excess. By ‘exotic skins’, we mean any skin not derived from cow/calf, sheep/lamb, goat, and pig. This includes, but is not limited to, lizard, snake, python, alligator, crocodile, ostrich, shark, and stingray.
